В настоящее время, несмотря на то, что альбом вышел относительно давно - он хрестоматийный - пособие по скоростной игре на гармонике. Хочется отметить такие композиции - "Miss You" -
c его участием она записывалась на "Some Girls" Rolling Stones, известная "Help me", "That's All Right" - акустическая с Lurrie Bell (Acoustic Guitar), "Country Blues" и фанковую

Считается, что WSQ был создан по инициативе декана музыкального факультета Нью-Орлеанского Южного университета Эда Джордана, который очень любил слушать всех четверых саксофонистов по отдельности и однажды предложил им сыграть вместе. Последовав его совету, музыканты так увлеклись исполнением музыки в четыре саксофона без аккомпанемента, что стали регулярно повторять этот опыт (кстати, трое из четверых - Хемфилл, Лэйк и Блюиетт - хорошо знали друг друга, так как были родом из одного города - Сент-Луиса). Garland takes such ballads as "We Kiss in a Shadow" and "You Better Go Now" at faster-than-expected tempos. "Ralph J.  Artists: Chet Baker Album: Witch Doctor [Live] Year: 1953 Label: OJC/Contemporary Time: 42:00 Format: MP3 @320kbps Size: 106 mb (RS.com, w/ 5% file recovery) Includes Covers + Scans Recorded live at the famous ~Lighthouse club in Hermosa Beach, CA, and reissued on CD in 1991, this disc finds Baker playing well, if not very consistently, and features a shifting group behind him that includes, on various tracks, saxophonists Bud Shank, Bob Cooper, and Jimmy Giuffre; pianists Russ Freeman and the underrated Claude Williamson; Lighthouse fixture Howard Rumsey on bass; and drummers Max Roach and Shelly Manne. The sound quality is fair and the playing occasionally gets a little bit sloppy -- Baker's solo work on "Pirouette" is especially dodgy -- but there are some moments of real inspiration, including the band' s boppish up-tempo reading of "Winter Wonderland" and Manne's inventive percussion on the Latin-flavored Cooper composition "Witch Doctor." There are better introductions to the Lighthouse sound, but this album is sure to please Chet Baker fans. -- AMG |

Этот альбом более жесткий, чем предыдущий "Blue Blazes". Звучание гармоники Шуга Блю электризовано на всех композициях. Что заслуживает уважения - это потрясающая изобретательность в соло, хотя уследишь ли за ним на такой скорости. Первая композиция - "Gucci Gucci Man" - жесткий блюз-рок, "Bottom Line" - классная приджазованная композиция - скорость тут очень в точку! "In Your Eyes" - медленная соул-баллада, Шуга Блю играет на хроматической губной гармонике. "She" - жесткая роковая композиция, но Шугар Блю играет и поет неплохую мелодию. "Bluepine" - более-менее традиционный блюз, Пайнтоп Перкинс на фортепиано. "Lip Service and Line" - соул-фанк композиция, с духовыми и подпевками, классная хроматическая гармоника от Шуга Блю. "Wirlwind" - блюз-рок в фанковом ритме. "Listen Baby" - медленный соул-блюз. "Love's Sweet Secrets" - классный фанк. И классика
блюза "Little Red Rooster". В итоге имеем не совсем блюзовую запись, уникального харпера, и набор неплохих песен, но альбому не хватает корней, хотя бы капельки старомодности.
