Музыка конечно абсолютно в формате и традиции ЕСМ. Во всяком случае, в одном из немногих форматов и в одной из немногих традиций. Что бы там ни говорили, а ЕСМ, все таки, довольно узконаправленная, что касается стилевого разнообразия, компания. В данном, конкретном случае, имеет место классическая европейская джазовая импровизация. Не бойтесь столкнуться здесь с авангардом, чем, опять же, так богат каталог ЕСМ. Музыка очень и очень съедобная. Альбом интересен еще и тем, что в его записи принимали участие два барабанщика мирового уровня. Причем, выступивший здесь на перкуссии Алиас, больше известен именно как перкуссионист. Но при всем при этом, мы не услышим ни одного лишнего звука от ритм секции, все очень гармонично и красиво. Идеальная музыка для осеннего хмурого вечера. Ведь скоро осень…
P.S. Есть такой философский термин — Oneness, который наиболее удачно можно перевести на русский язык как “Целостность Всего”.

     Рон Перрило родился в Нью-Йорке 6 июля 1962 года. Как говорится Рон стал музыкантом от рождения. Его родители всегда любили все стили музыки, а дед Рона - Анджело Перрилло работал в Нью-Йорке гитаристом.      Еще в средней школе он начал играть на фортепиано в ВСС Neophonic Jazz Band под руководством Берни Швитзера. В 1990 году Рон был отобран из сотен кандидатов в качестве одного из пяти финалистов на американском джазовом конкурсе пианистов.

     Recorded in 1962, Ready for Freddie is one of the finest moments on record for the young Freddie Hubbard. Just 24 at the time of the session, Hubbard shows an incredible confidence as a leader with a hotshot group of players: Wayne Shorter, Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner, and Detroit's Bernard McKinney on euphonium. With a solid hard bop framework, some of Hubbard's later funkiness enters into his playing and charts on "Crisis," and his beautiful, elongated lines are showcased on "Arietis." Along with the Hubbard tunes, Shorter contributes his beautiful "Marie Antoinette" to the session, and the gorgeous group playing on "Weaver of Dreams" was a high point for the label during that calendar year. But the real dazzler is the flying tempo of Hubbard's "Birdlike." His and Shorter's solos are as dizzying as they are complex. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide

   Different from most Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, there is little electronica. Mostly acoustic, the music is a pleasant change from the guitar synthesizers often used by Metheny. Lyle Mays is in top form here and provides some beautiful and virtuoso playing. One definitely to have in the collection.

     In contrast to Hawkins's sometimes sleepy studio albums from this era, his live performances were generally quite exciting. This set features the great tenor at two European concerts in 1960, performing three fairly heated numbers with a four-piece rhythm section, matching wits with trumpeter Roy Eldridge on "Crazy Rhythm" and leading two all-star jams with Eldridge, fellow tenor Don Byas and altoist Benny Carter.      The mere thought of anything other than a riff-driven dance track performed by a surgically-sculptured woman (real or otherwise) prancing around in a ridiculous head-dress and haute couture underwear as outerwear is enough to make any queen shiver in her expensive designer trainers.
     But let’s throw our fickle tastes to the wind and embrace this double compilation of mind-blowing jazz tracks pieced together by the Dutch DJ, the aptly-named Maestro. Though some big names appear here (Donald Byrd, Horace Silver and Bobby McFerrin), the amazing selection of jazz tracks is purely merit-based, each one a stand-alone retro jazz classic.      During 1956-57 trumpeter Donald Byrd and altoist Phil Woods (both important up-and-coming players) were regular members of pianist George Wallington's quintet. For this CD reissue, bassist Teddy Kotick and drummer Art Taylor complete the group on a program that includes three standards ("Our Delight," "Our Love Is Here to Stay" and "What's New"), a pair of Woods originals ("Together We Wail" and "But George") and Frank Foster's "Foster Dulles." The music falls between bebop and hard bop with Woods sounding quite strong while Byrd comes across as a promising (but not yet mature) youngster. A fine example of this somewhat forgotten but talented group, easily recommended to bop collectors. -- Review by Scott Yanow, AMG.
