George Frideric Handel - Messiah

Regina Belle - Reachin' Back (1995)
     Artist: Regina Belle
     Album: Reachin’ Back
     Label: Sony
     Year: 1995
     Release Date: 1995
     Genre: R&B
     Format, bitrate: mp3
     Size: 65.60MB

Regina Belle emerged as a prolific, consistently engaging vocalist on the urban contemporary scene. Born in New Jersey, Belle's early experience was in gospel, though she was also attracted to R&B during her childhood. She studied trombone, tuba, and steel drums, and at 12 won a school contest singing the Emotions' "Don't Ask My Neighbors." Belle sang in a New Jersey vocal group, and studied opera and jazz in college. New York disc jockey Vaughn Harper introduced her to the Manhattans, and she began working as their opening act. Belle recorded a duet with them, "Where Did We Go Wrong," that was produced by Bobby Womack in 1986. She earned a solo Columbia contract in 1987, and the single "Please Be Mine" earned both praise and a number two R&B hit. A follow-up single, "So Many Tears," also made the R&B Top 20, and the hit "Without You," pairing her with Peabo Bryson, was the only memorable thing about the film Leonard, Part 6. Her second LP, Stay with Me, secured her success, and she went on to earn more acclaim. Releasing Passion in 1993, she returned five years later with Believe in Me, which was followed by 2001's This Is Regina! and 2004's Lazy Afternoon. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide

Clifton Chenier & His Red Hot Louisiana Band - Live at Grant Street
Artist: Clifton Chenier & His Red Hot Louisiana Band
     Album: Live at Grant Street
     Label: Arhoolie Records
     Year: 2000
     Format, Mp3 -new V0
     Size: 100,65 MB

Clifton Chenier recorded this 73-minute performance in Lafayette, LA, on April 28, 1981, backed by the Red Hot Louisiana Band. That group featured Cleveland Chenier on rub board, C.J. Chenier on alto sax, and Robert Peter on drums; oddly, the guitar and bass players for this specific gig remain unidentified. No surprises here -- just a good energetic set by the king of zydeco, with a full-sounding band and pretty good fidelity. As usual, he varied the set between traditional-sounding zydeco and numbers with a heavier soul and blues flavor (on which the saxophone comes much more to the fore), including a cover of the old Chuck Willis hit "What Am I Living For." ~ Richie Unterberger , All Music Guide [b]

In 1952 is song "Petite Fleur" became a world wide hit, and in 1953 his ballet score "La Nuit Est Une Sorciere" premiered in Paris.

Bram Wijnands Trio - If I Had You
     Artist: Bram Wijnands Trio
     Album: If I Had You
     Quality: mp3@320 kbps + covers
     Label: Chico Records
     Year: 2007

In July 1991,Dutch musician Bram Wijnands arrived in Kansas City for a one-week sell-out gig at the now defunct City Lights Jazz Club with the late Richard Ross. The Kansas City Jazz community was treated to a style of entertainment not seen since the days of Count Basie and Jay McShann shaking the walls at the Hey Hey Club. Bram Wijnands had just swept into town from his native Holland. Very soon after, the buzz started all over town about his remarkably fresh and hard-driving swing and enthusiastic style of delivery. Kansas City was hooked, and Bram was hooked on Kansas City. He made several trips back and forth between Holland and Kansas City and by 1994, he had completely settled in Kansas City.
After a Carnegie Hall concert in 1998, he received a proclamation from Mayor Emmanuel Cleaver's office stating him as Kansas City's Ambassador of Swing and making April the 6th "Bram Wijnands Day" in Kansas City. Not bad for a boy from Holland!
Born in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, Bram Wijnands began playing piano at an early age. By the time he turned eight, he studied Barrelhouse Blues (Boogie Woogie) and stride-piano recordings of Fats Waller, James P. Johnson, Meade Lux Lewis, Jack Dupree and Memphis Slim. One thing led to another and in 1991, he graduated in Jazz instrumental education and performance at the Hilversum Conservatory in the Netherlands, the largest school of Jazz in Europe. During and after graduation, he performed with Jazz-artists Slide Hampton, Gene Connors, Jos Moons, Richard Ross and Deborah Brown, then immediately embarked with his trio on a tour throughout eastern Europe, Russia, western Europe and the United States. Performances included the Kansas City Blues and Jazz Festival, 18th&Vine Heritage Festival and the Topeka Jazz Party.

Великолепная блюзовая вокалистка Di Anne Price, с замечательным альбомом...

"Di Anne Price, singer and piano player, is sometimes called Memphis' best-kept musical secret," Adam Gussow said. "She combines the soulful vocal stylings of Ernestine Anderson and Carmen McCrae with the barrelhouse power of Katie Webster. In concert with her juke-lounge quartet, The Boyfriends, she is the most amazing blueswoman you've ever heard.

John Coltrane - Coltrane (1962)
     Artist: John Coltrane
     Album: Coltrane
     Format: FLAC & mp3 (320k/s)
     Size: 346 & 109 MB (scans)
     Label: Impulse (20bit remastered, 1997)
     Total time: 47:18

John Coltrane and his classic quartet (pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Jimmy Garrison, and drummer Elvin Jones) are in fine form on this 1962 studio LP. High points include a passionate "Out of This World" (what did Johnny Mercer think of this version?) and a classic version of Mal Waldron's "Soul Eyes." The remainder of the program includes "The Inch Worm" and the two Coltrane compositions, "Tunji" and "Miles' Mode." Not as intense as many of Trane's other albums, this is still a recommended and enjoyable set. - by by Scott Yanow & Jack LV Isles, AMG

     Artist: Art Blakey
     Album: A Jazz Message
     Label: Impulse
     Quality: FLAC & MP3@320
     Size: 231 MB & 79 MB

Drummer Art Blakey took time off from his busy schedule as leader of The Jazz Messengers to participate in this quartet session with saxophonist Sonny Stitt, pianist McCoy Tyner and bassist Art Davis. Although this session was under Blakey's leadership, Stitt (on both tenor and alto) emerges as the main soloist, playing his trademark bebop lines with creativity and typical enthusiasm. Jay McShann - In Copenhagen
     Artist: Jay McShann
     Album: In Copenhagen
     Label: Storyville
     Genre: Jazz, blues
     Year: 1977, released: 2008
     Quality: mp3@256 kbps + frontcover
     Total time. 61:52

Other than the opening "Doo-Wah-Doo" and the closing "Cherry Red," both of which include guitarist Thomas Muller, bassist Ole Skipper Mosgard and drummer Thorkild Moller, this is a set of unaccompanied piano and vocals by the great veteran Jay McShann. The music is typical for McShann, with veteran blues (such as "After Hours" and "How Long Blues"), the standard "Ace in the Hole," and some swinging boogie-based originals, plus "Yardbird Waltz." ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
