Artist: Eric Dolphy Album: Immortal Concerts: Five Spot Cafe New York City July 16, 1961 Label: Gaints of Jazz Year: 1961, release 1990 Genre: Post-bop Format, bitrate: MP3@320kbps Time: 70'18'' Size: 163.6 MB (+ scans) Одна из первых записей Э.Долфи с новым трубачом Б.Литтлом, пришедшим в его квартет на смену Ф.Хаббарту, в далеком 61-ом. This is the actual set performance of Live at the Five Spot performance by the Eric Dolphy Quintet from 1961. The band included Booker Little, Mal Waldron, Richard Davis and Eddie Blackwell. Here in the States, the Five Spot dates were broken up to be presented not as they occurred, but as they were sequenced and taken from each night and different sets on each night; they were issued in separate volumes. This is the first set presented as recorded in very decent mono sound. For the price, you can't beat it. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide |

Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra - Shostakovich: The Jazz Album (1993) |

Artist: Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Conductor: Riccardo Chailly Performer: Ronald Brautigam, Peter Masseurs Album: Shostakovich: The Jazz Album Label: Decca Year: 1993 Genre: Classical Music, Orchestral Music Format, bitrate: MP3@320 kbps Time: 58:54 Size: 129.4 Mb Вашему вниманию - Королевский Концертгебау Оркестр под управлением Риккардо Чейли! Riccardo Chailly has proved himself adept in the highways and byways of Shostakovich's output. You really feel he enjoys this music, conducting it with relish and not a hint of condescension. Admittedly the Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and Strings has real pathos in its second movement to offset the brittle humour and high jinx elsewhere. Ronald Brautigam brings a Gershwin-like uninhibitedness to his performance, with Peter Masseurs incisive yet elegant in the trumpet part. The two jazz suites are peripheral Shostakovich, but great fun all the same. The Concertgebouw's resident jazzers would clearly give any professional combo a run for its money, especially in the lengthy Second Suite, assembled from film and theatre scores. Tahiti Trot is even more intriguing than it sounds: an orchestral transcription of the 1920s hit "Tea For Two", made in a matter of hours to win a bet. Its a far cry from Shostakovich as we tend to think of him, yet valuable for throwing light on the heady era out of which the mature composer forcibly emerged. ~ Richard Whitehouse |

![Various Artists - Cuadernos de la Habana (Notebooks of Havana) [BOX SET]](http://jazzbluesclub.com/uploads/posts/thumbs/1234357699_haba.jpg) Artist: Various Artists Album: Cuadernos de la Habana Label: Winter & Winter Style: Latin Pop Tropical Release Date: 10/12/1999 Quality: MP3@256 Size: 552 MB(3% recovery) Time: 4h 36m Cuadernos De La Habana – своеобразная музыкальная экскурсия в Гавану. This five-CD project is something else (typical of the Winter & Winter label). The reclusive Italian poet and painter Mario Luis Malfatti has assembled a very personal soundtrack for an aural film, a soundtrack for the mind. These five-plus hours of music and fetishistic package recorded by Malfatti on a DAT recorder are very much field recordings adorned lovingly with his drawings and paintings in the accompanying booklets. Musicians of all types were caught live, without advance notice, in cafes, on street corners, in ballrooms, and in clubs, performing for audiences of everyday people. All Cubans, it seems, at least in Malfatti's view, take part in music as a part of everyday life. "Music here is therapy," he writes, "the most handy way to forget, to feel alive." And what is there to forget? Plenty. The pervasive poverty is one thing according to Malfatti: "These streets ooze poverty, but it would be difficult to bear poverty with more dignity," he writes in the liner notes. This collection is set up as a tour, an experience encountered aurally, but it's also designed to affect the other senses. The listener first encounters the wistful piano stylings of Frank Emilio Flynn at the Miramar. His "Midnight Theme" is just that. Gentle, long melodic lines spun out to the sounds of people drinking and talking in the background. Seemingly out of time and space, it's gorgeous in its evocation of romantic yet melancholy memory. Next, at the Central Rail... - Thom Jurek, All Music Guide |

Artist: Miucha & Antonio Carlos Jobim Album: Miucha & Tom Jobim Label: BMG Year: 1979 Genre: Bossa Nova,MPB Format, bitrate: mp3 320kb HQ CBR Time: 32:19 Size: 69 mb Второй совместный альбом тети Бебел Жильберто - Миучи и Антонио Карлоса Жобима. Рекомендую любителям бразильской музыки и не только! This second collaboration between these two great talents is every bit as wonderful as the first -- a great later set of bossa-revival work, done by Tom Jobim and Miucha in a similar mode to his earlier work with Elis Regina! The set was recorded in New York, with spacious production from the legendary Aloysio De Oliveira -- and the result's a beautiful combination of lilting melody and warm vocals that shows that Jobim could still sound wonderful, even after his initial 60s classics. Chico Buarque and Joao Donato contribute to the magic, and titles include " Turma Do Funil (No Baixo Leblon)", " Triste Alegria", " Sublime Tortura", " Samba Do Carioca", " Falando De Amor", " No Cego", and " Dinheiro Em Penca". © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc. |

Otis Taylor - Definition Of A Circle (2007) |

Artist: Otis Taylor Album: Definition Of A Circle Released: Feb 27, 2007/ recorded: 2007 Length: 54:02 (140,7 Mb) Label: Telarc Format/ bitrate: mp3, 320 kb/s Size: 140 mb Альбом весьма и весьма достойный. Enjoy! Crackling with hypnotic energy, Otis Taylor's eighth album infuses his cutting-edge blues with a dose of rock'n'roll exuberance. The blasting opener "Little Betty" gets some rocket fuel from blues-rock legend Gary Moore's marvelously expressive, raw guest guitar as well as from drummer John Kelly, whose propulsion ignites several of these dozen tunes. Ultimately, though, Taylor's one-chord magic comes from his knack for repeating catchy riffs until they become a seductive blur--a hip-shaking platform for his colorful explorations of love, war, joy, deprivation, and racial struggle. He's also got a way with textures, spinning dirty guitar, prickly electric mandolin, his daughter Cassie's haunting alto singing, and his own appealingly hoarse baritone into mesmeric arrangements for tunes like the Hurricane Katrina contemplation "They Wore Blue" that owe as much to Pink Floyd as to Muddy Waters. Taylor also pushes the envelope hard with "Long Long Life," which blends jazz star Hiromi Uchara's manic piano improvisations with Ron Miles's free-form cornet as Taylor intones a curse on a disdainful lover. It's a brilliant collision of styles and yet another fiery testimonial to Taylor's unique artistic vision. --Ted Drozdowski |

Benoit Delbecq - Pursuit |

Artist: Benoit Delbecq Album: Pursuit Year: 1999 Country: USA Label: Songlines Recordings Format: FLAC/CUE Size: 232Mb The compositions presented on Pursuit by the 'Benoit Delbecq 5' often convey a sense of buoyancy or airiness which becomes outwardly evident from the onset with the opener titled, 'Strange Loop'. Here, the dual and we might add, distinguished woodwind section of clarinetist Francois Houle and clarinetist/saxophonist Michael Moore partake in brief choruses that float atop quiet and at times undulating rhythms and subliminal electronic EFX supplied by drummer Steve Arguelles. Longtime Steve Lacy associate Jean-Jacques Avenel completes the rhythm section as the band led by pianist Benoit Delbecq and his vastly interesting compositional approach suggests a potpourri of intersecting themes enhanced by the often brilliant soloing. |

Albert King - King Albert (1977) |

Artists: Albert King Album: King Albert Label: Rhino Year: 1977 Genre: Blues Format: mp3/ CBR 320 kbps, 44.1kHz, Stereo Size: 70,1 Mb Rebounding slightly from the nadir of Albert, Albert King delivered King Albert, a record that at least sticks to the tough, soul-inflected blues that made his reputation. Granted, the sound of the album is entirely too polished, but there is genuine grit in the performances and some strong songs, such as "You Upset Me Baby" and "Good Time Charlie," on the record. That may be enough for some hardcore fans to give a listen, but they should be forewarned that even those inspired moments aren't enough to make King Albert a worthwhile release. ~ Thom Owens, AMG |

Richard Bona/Lokua Kanza/Gerald Toto - Toto Bona Lokua (2005) |

Artist: Richard Bona/Lokua Kanza/Gerald Toto Album: Toto Bona Lokua Year: rec. Dec 2, 2003-Dec 24, 2003, rel. 2005 Label: Sunny Side Genre: World Fusion Format: MP3@320/kbs Size: 76.99 MB Richard Bona is one of those artists whose musicianship is hard to classify. He’s a bassist that can be found playing with some of jazz’s heaviest hitters, yet this Camoroonian artist can also bring his roots with him to different styles of music (jazz, funk, fusion, soul, blues). If that wasn’t enough, he’s also a soulful singer. For this performance he’s joined by fellow African musicians Gerald Toto (Martinique) and Lokua Kanza (Congo) to reprise 2005’s wonderful but somewhat overlooked Toto Bona Lokua. The album sparkled with three-part harmonies and subtle musicianship that was closer to Bobby McFerrin’s music than that of African pop. Part of Bona’s five-date residency at the 2007 Montreal Jazz Festival, this performance was the trio’s North American debut and it didn’t disappoint. Bona came out with his trio (bass, keyboard, drums) performed a soulful jazz song before he invited Toto and Lokua to the stage. Each a singer, songwriter and musician in his own right, the trio of singers where were sort of like an African hootenanny where each was allowed to shine. Nonetheless, highlights often came when the three intertwined vocal melodies, lyrics, tongue clicks and other oral percussion techniques. Happily, Bona’s band often stepped aside or quietly underpinned the singers’ voices, leaving plenty of room for extemporaneous flights of vocal fancy. The vibe was loose and playful with plenty of crowd interaction (there was a strong African contingent in the audience), but once the songs began it was clear that the singers were bent on making great music together. Most all-star bands seem to be overblown or haphazard one-offs, yet this night, like the original album, played against stereotype. With each artist having their own busy career, it’s hard to get schedules to sync up. But hopefully this will become a special ongoing project that it so richly deserves to be. http://www.globalrhythm.net/LiveReviews/TotoBonaLokua.cfm =>>> |

Artists: Miucha & Antonio Carlos Jobim Album: Miucha & Antonio Carlos Jobim Label: BMG Year: 1977 Genre: Bossa Nova, MPB Format, bitrate: mp3 320kb HQ CBR Time: 35:34 Size: 75 mb Первый ,можно сказать, сольный альбом от Miucha. Веселый и позитивный альбом! Любителям бразильской музыки рекомендую к ознакомлению :) A pretty darn sweet vocal session from the duo of Miucha and Antonio Carlos Jobim recorded with lots of bossa overtones, very much the same spirit as the legendary Elis & Tom album of the mid 70s! Chico Buarque participates in the session, and Jobim even lends his vocal talents to a track or two but his real talent, though, is his work on the arrangements as he gives the whole thing a beautifully dreamy quality, in the manner of his best 70s work, with lots of strange off-kilter melodies floating around the mix of strings, piano, and flute! Miucha's vocals are lovely, and titles include "Sei La A Vida Tem Sempre Razao", "Vai Levando", "Comigo E Assim", "Samba Do Aviao", and "Saia Do Caminho". |

Richard Bona - Bona Makes You Sweat – Live (2008) |

Artist: Richard Bona Album: Bona Makes You Sweat – Live Year: rec. Jul 11, 2001,Jul 12, 2001, rel. 2008 Label: Universal Music France Genre: World Fusion, Contemporary Jazz Type: Live, Enhanced Format: MP3@320/kbs Size: 140.91 MB This disc, Bona’s fifth as leader and first live recording, brings out the best of his many virtues. His voice first catches one’s ear, perhaps optimally showcased on the a cappella number “Samaouma,” with either three other uncredited singers, or prerecorded harmonies he sings over. In any case it’s a virtuoso performance, but also very endearing. The band also stands out; led, of course, by Bona’s Joco/Marcus Miller-inspired electric bass. Equally impressive is the versatile Taylor Haskins on trumpet, who seems to be showing up everywhere. But the entire band totally tunes in. Indeed, this is one tight and grooving outfit, no matter whether they’re laying down a West African, Caribbean, boppin’ blues, or South American vibe. And Bona’s rapport with his Hungarian audience astounds, transcending cultural and language boundaries with ease, highlighted by their entirely natural sing-along on “O Sen Sen Sen.” Finally, Bona knows how to get people moving: yes, he makes you sweat, even if you’re sitting at home, with such rousing numbers as “Te Dikalo” and “Engingilaye.” All but three tunes, “Indiscretions” (sung in both English and Douala), “I Wish” (including another sing-along) and “Trains” (a rousing funk outro), appear on his other albums. Many of the tunes seem entirely familiar to his Budapest audience, who cheer the opening bars of several numbers and whistle in appreciation now and again. Strangely, it all fits in seamlessly. If you have even the slightest affinity for this eclectic Afro/pop world music, Bona Makes You Sweat should be entirely satisfying. If you’re new to Richard Bona, this is as good a place as any to start. - Jan P. Dennis |

Artist: J.J.Johnson Album: Dial J. J. 5 Label: Columbia Quality: FLAC & MP3@320 Size: 264 MB & 102 MB Time: 46:11 J.J. Johnson’s great 1956-1957 quintet played modern jazz with authority, imagination, taste and feeling. Its leader was the trombonist of the era, much emulated and admired by his peers. The Belgian-born Jaspar, who had recently won the International Jazz Critics’ New Star Award on tenor, proved an ideal foil and a capable modern-mainstream tenor sax and flutist, contributing impressively on both instruments. Flanagan, a superbly swinging pianist, also made an indelible mark on the group, which was graced initially with another bop piano great, Hank Jones, while Little and Elvin Jones’ support throughout is admirable. It was an exhilarating band that fully displayed Johnson’s well-rounded musicianship. |

 |
Artist - David Murray & The Gwo Ka Masters Album - Yonn-De Year of Release - 2002 Label - Justin Time Records Quality-mp3@256 Size:132 mb Avant-garde tenor icon David Murray continues to explore the music of the African diaspora on Yonn-Dй, focusing on percussion and vocal traditions from Guadeloupe. Three masters of gwo ka music -- vocalist Guy Konket and percussionist/vocalists Klod KiavuГ© and Francois Ladrezeau -- appear alongside Murray, trumpeter Hugh Ragin, trombonist Craig Harris, bassist Santi Debriano, and drummer Pheeroan akLaff. Guy Konket composed all the music and it is remarkable. Based on extended vamps that are repetitive but by no means stagnant, these tracks draw upon the ecstatic dance vibe of Afro-beat and the majestic cry of the blues in equal measure. Sometimes the vocal parts become the percussion, as on "OnomatopГ©e," a striking dialogue between the voices and Murray's bass clarinet. "NwГ©l'o" and "La Pli La" are irrepressibly funky and fast; "On Jou Maten" and "Youyou" are mellower and more hypnotic, but every bit as grooving. It is Santi Debriano who proves to be the beating heart of the entire project, lending harmonic shape and direction and making every track a unique journey. ~ David R.
