Artist: Carlos Santana Album: Oneness - Silver Dreams & Golden Realities Label: Columbia Genre:Rock/Jazz/Other Year: 1979 Quality: mp3, 320 kb/s Size: 102 mb
This is the first Carlos Santana solo album. It features members of the Santana band as backup, however, so the difference between a group effort and a solo work seems to be primarily in the musical approach, which is more esoteric, and more varied than on a regular band album. The record is mostly instrumental and given over largely to contemplative ballads, although there is also, for example, in the song "Silver Dreams Golden Smiles," a traditional pop ballad sung by Saunders King.~ William Ruhlmann, AMG

21 августа исполнилось 105 лет со дня рождения Каунта Бейси
Imagine my delight when this DVD of what I consider to be the greatest ever Big Band arrived for review. The problem for those of us who liked this band so much, is that in the era in which it played, there was no such thing as video recording. If you wanted to hear the Basie Band, your choice was buy a disc or go to live concerts, I did both many times! This DVD was only made possible because it came from a TV show made in Sweden in 1962 and fortunately had not been disposed of. This is the band five years on from the Atomic Mr Basie album, which usually comes out top of any poll for ‘The Greatest Big Band Album of All Times’. Most of the stars of that album are still in place and the band gives a spectacular performance in the way only the Count and his men could do it. The programme starts with ‘Easin’ It, a piece written and arranged by Frank Foster.. . .
Artists - Bill Harris With Ben Webster and Jimmy Rowles Album - Bill Harris and Friends Label - OJC/Fantasy Year - 1957, release - 1992 Quality - MP3@320 kbps Size - 90,5 mb Total time - 41:21 AMG Rating
Воскресный подарок моим друзьям!
Trombonist Bill Harris led relatively few recording sessions throughout his career, and this is the definitive one. On the quintet set with the great tenor Ben Webster, pianist Jimmy Rowles, bassist Red Mitchell, and drummer Stan Levey, Harris' unique tone is showcased throughout "It Might As Well Be Spring"; he jams enthusiastically with Webster on a variety of standards and verbally jokes around with Ben on a unique version of "Just One More Chance."~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
Artist: Gary Thomas Album: Found on sordid streets Label: Winter & Winter Year: 1998 Format, bitrate: MP3-320 Kbps Size: 127 Mb
As with altoists Steve Coleman and Greg Osby, Gary Thomas has developed his own fresh approach to improvisation, avoiding bop clichйs and taking solos that are consistently full of surprising twists and turns. Lots of chances are taken and, even if not everything works (the use of rap on one of his JMT albums is unfortunate), Gary Thomas' music would never be called predictable. In the late '80s, Thomas gigged with both Miles Davis and Jack DeJohnette's Special Edition. He has also recorded frequently with Greg Osby, Michele Rosewoman, and Wallace Roney, in addition to leading his own sessions.~ Scott Yanow, AMG.

This album gave the Count Basie Orchestra a rare chance to record an instrumental studio date in the late '60s. Arranger Sammy Nestico made his debut with Basie on this pleasant if unremarkable set of swingers and ballads. Tenors Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Eric Dixon (doubling on flute) are the standouts on this enjoyable session. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide

Artist: June Christy Album: Something Cool Year: 1953-1955 Label: Blue Note Format, bitrate: mp3, 320Kbps Time: 67:54 Size: 161 MB Arranged and conducted by Pete Rugolo
REPOST with a new Rapidshare.com link
June Christy's classic Something Cool has been expanded from 11 songs to 24 on this essential CD with two unreleased cuts and six songs only previously out as singles. Christy's attractive "cool" tone was a trademark of jazz in the 1950s, her version of "Something Cool" remains a classic, and many of the other numbers are nearly as memorable. Accompanied by Pete Rugolo's Orchestra, Christy is heard at her best on such numbers as "Whee Baby," "You're Making Me Crazy," "Midnight Sun," "A Stranger Called the Blues," "Softly As in a Morning Sunrise," "This Time the Dream's on Me," and "The Night We Called It a Day."
