Artists: Wilbur Harden and John Coltrane Album: Mainstream 1958: The East Coast Jazz Scene Label:Savoy Jazz Year: 1958, release: 1994 Format, bitrate:mp3; 320kb/s Size:85 Mb Mainstream 1958: The East Coast Jazz Scene is a 1958 album by jazz musician Wilbur Harden and tenor saxophonist John Coltrane. This outstanding release features the complete collection of recordings made by Coltrane with the trumpeter & fluegelhornist Harden, an intriguing figure in the history of jazz music, whose health forced him to retire at the age of 35. The album also features some of the greatest jazz artists of the period -Tommy Flanagan, Curtis Fuller, Louis Hayes & Art Taylor. It is a record which leaves no doubt that Coltrane was an innovator of colossal dimensions. Highlights of the album include the loping 'Wells Fargo,' the exotic 'E.F.F.P.H.,' & the strutting 'Anedac'. |

Artists - Mel Powell, Joe Sullivan & Mary Lou Williams Album - Two Cats & A Mouse Years: 1944 - 1948, release - 1999 Label - Disconforme Quality - MP3@320 kbps Size - 150 mb Total time - 71:30 Ïðåäëàãàþ ïîñëóøàòü áëåñòÿùèõ áîïîâûõ ïèàíèñòîâ!
Rare and little-known recordings by 'cats' Mel Powell and Joe Sullivan for Capitol label in 1944-1948, plus gems by the 'mouse' Mary Lou Williams recorded in 1944 and 1946. In jazz lingo, if "cat" defines a pal or partner, "mouse" refers to young desirable woman. This CD gathers some obscure recordings by three pianists - two cats and a mouse - who became important figures in jazz history. |

Recorded in October, 2004, Sipiagin (or "Sasha" as his family and close friends are allowed to call him) continues to tap into his circle of like-minded musical peers, this time rounding up Adam Rogers, Scott Colley, Antonio Sanchez and Seamus Blake. The members have all forged a strong relationship, both as musicians and as friends, through various circumstances, notably with Michael Brecker's recent Quindectet album and subsequent tours, of which Sipiagin, Rogers and Sanchez were members for both the quindectet and the smaller sextet groups. liner notes |

1970-2006: Earth Wind & Fire - Collection |

Artist: Earth Wind & Fire Album: Collection (29 albums) Label: Sony Music Format, bitrate: mp3, VBR 192-320 kbps Time: 01:03:04:35 Size: 3,39 Gb. During the 1970s, a new brand of pop music was born - one that was steeped in African and African-American styles - particularly jazz and R&B but appealed to a broader cross-section of the listening public. As founder and leader of the band Earth, Wind & Fire, Maurice White not only embraced but also helped bring about this evolution of pop, which bridged the gap that has often separated the musical tastes of black and white America. It certainly was successful, as EWF combined high-caliber musicianship, wide-ranging musical genre eclecticism, and '70s multicultural spiritualism. "I wanted to do something that hadn't been done before," Maurice explains. "Although we were basically jazz musicians, we played soul, funk, gospel, blues, jazz, rock and dance music...which somehow ended up becoming pop. We were coming out of a decade of experimentation, mind expansion and cosmic awareness. I wanted our music to convey messages of universal love and harmony without force-feeding listeners' spiritual content." The Official Earth, Wind & Fire Website (Download) |

There is a long excerpt from "Jam Blues" and five complete blues-oriented selections, which also feature trumpeter Roy Eldridge, Ben Webster on tenor and either Vic Dickenson or Lawrence Brown on trombone. Some of the music has since resurfaced on the CD Not So Dukish, but most of the rest unfortunately remains unavailable. This LP is therefore worth picking up by those listeners lucky enough to run across it. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide |

Artist: Steve Kuhn Album: Steve Kuhn Label: Buddah Records Release: 1971 Style: Post-Bop Format mp3, bitrate: 256 kb/s vbr (vinyl rip) Time: 31:28 Size: 50,6 Mb A surprisingly short and inconsistent issue the "Steve Khun" album is more an experiment than a true project. Backed up by an unknown string quartet and by famous jazz artists like Airto, Carter and Cobham, Kuhn sings vocals, plays the acoustic and electric piano and mostly lets go his fantasies and imagination. A not very inspired set, reissued in 2007 by Columbia Japan with some additional tracks is to be avoided by the regular jazz listener but to be searched by jazz aficionados and snobs. - Bubu Hans |
