1980: Count Basie - Kansas City 7 |
Swing, Basie Count |
 |
 |
Artist - Count Basie Album - Kansas City 7 Label - Pablo Year - 1980, release - 1984 Quality - MP3@320kbps Size: 101 mb (sharebee) Total time - 45:00 REPOST with a new link, by request Norman Granz recorded Count Basie in many different settings during his decade with Granz's Pablo label. This jam session set was a little unusual in that, along with the tenor of Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, guitarist Joe Pass and trombonist J.J. Johnson, trumpeter Freddie Hubbard is in the cast along with Basie; pity he never recorded with the Count Basie Orchestra. This spirited session is a strong consolation prize, with plenty of fine solos taking over familiar chord changes. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide |

1984: Al Jarreau - In London |

Artist: Al Jarreau Album: In London Label: Warner Bros Year: 1984 Genre: Funk / Soul, Jazz, Pop Format, bitrate:VBR 239-257 Kbps Time: 39:36 Size:70,41 Mb Äóìàþ, ÷òî Al Jarreau â àíîíñå íå íóæäàåòñÿ è ïîýòîìó áåç ëèøíèõ ñëîâ äîáàâëÿþ åù¸ îäèí àëüáîì â îáùóþ êîïèëêó. This is a snapshot of Al Jarreau a few years after achieving pop stardom, caught live before a large crowd at London's Wembley Arena. In contrast with the lean, dynamically subtle backup band on the earlier live Look to the Rainbow, here Jarreau arms himself with a flashy, heavily electronic R&B/funk band with horns, and subtlety often goes out the window in favor of high-energy showmanship. Unlike his studio albums from this period, though, this concert allows him a little bit of room to display glimpses of his famous vocal acrobatics. The set starts with a burst of high-tech pizzazz on "Raging Waters" and "Black and Blues" and ultimately settles into a partying groove with "Roof Garden" and "We're In This Love Together." Though the concert makes for a pleasurable listen in the home, Warner could not capture the intimate connection that the live Jarreau made with his audiences in any of his periods, so one feels a bit removed from the action. The video version of the concert, by the way, contains a few songs that were not available on the audio release. ~ Richard S. Ginell, All Music Guide |

Artists: Milcho Leviev & Vicky Almazidu Album: Quiet Love (mini jazz opera) Label: Ethnic Art Year: ; 2004 Format: mp3, bitrate:256kb/s Time: 51:04 Size: 92,4 MB This cd is as unique and amazing as its creators, Mrs. Vicky Almazidou and Mr. Milcho Leviev. Vicky's voice is unbeleivable, both technically and emotionally. The songs have very challenging rythyms and harmonies, but she makes it sound easy! I got chills listening to her soulful voice and this incredible cd. I absolutely recomend it. You'll be amazed with what this sophisticated vocalist and majestic pianist/composer, can do! 1997: Eddie Higgins Trio - Haunted Heart |
Music |
 |
 |
Artist: Eddie Higgins Trio Album: Haunted Heart Label: Venus Jazz Genre: Piano Jazz Format mp3, bitrate: 320 kb/s Time: 50:11 Size: 120 Mb AMG Rating: The lonely cover photo and title of this Japanese import give away most of the story; this is a haunted, introspective album of piano-trio jazz very much indebted to Bill Evans and, to a lesser extent, George Shearing. Veteran Eddie Higgins mostly serves up standards from the Great American Songbook — "My Funny Valentine," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "I Should Care," "Lush Life," the usual suspects — in a tasteful, unshowy, often gently swinging way, harmonically locked into the mainstream, occasionally throwing in a gentle quote for humor's sake. Elsewhere, "Israel" forms the core of a "Stolen Moments" sandwich, and "Lover Come Back to Me" is given the token bossa nova treatment. Ray Drummond (bass) and Ben Riley (drums) make up the fine rhythm section, and they never miss a cue. - Richard S. Ginell at All Music Guide |

 Artist: Zoot Sims Album: Zoot Plays Soprano Label:Pablo, Japan (24 bit remastered) Year:rec.Jan 8, 1976-Jan 9, 1976 / rel. 2002 Format:MP3 @ 320 Kb/s Time:46:02 Size: 100 Mb AMG rating: To my friends in JBC! Please enjoy.
Jazz soprano saxophone is mainly associated with its originator in the idiom Sidney Bechet and later John Coltrane who brought the instrument into a new realm with the success of "My Favorite Things." Even though this was the first time Zoot Sims played soprano saxophone exclusively on a date, he sounds comfortable enough with it to be included in that elite category. Originally recorded in 1976, Soprano Sax highlights two Sims originals alongside standards "Moonlight in Vermont," "Willow Weep for Me," and "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams." Pianist Ray Bryant, bassist George Mraz, and drummer Grady Tate make up the complementary rhythm section behind Sims, who unfortunately never made another all soprano date. ~ by Al Campbell, AMG.

Artist: Milt Jackson Sextet Album: Invitation (bonus tracks) Label: Riverside/Fantasy/Original Jazz Classics/Mobile Fidelity Koch Year: Aug 30 - Nov 7, 1962 ; release: 2007 Genre: Jazz/Hard Bop Format mp3, bitrate: 320 kb/s Time: 49:04 Size: 121 Mb (covers) AMG Rating: Jackson enjoyed decades of solo work for great jazz labels such as Savoy, Riverside and Atlantic and one of his crowning achievements occurred over a three day session booked for Riverside in 1962. Answering his 'Invitation' were fellow all-stars Kenny Dorham, Jimmy Heath, Ron Carter and Tommy Flanagan. The trumpet/tenor tandem uniquely augment Jackson's vibraphone, creating a driving, free-wheeling, classic blowing session. Now you can hear every little detail from these sessions on this Mobile Fidelity Hybrid SACD. The CD layer sounds absolutely phenomenal - so much better than the original. - Stephen Reddy at Amazon.com |

 Artist: Sy Oliver Album: Oliver's Twist & Easy Walker Label: Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Year:rec.Jul 7, 1960,Oct 18, 1962 / rel.Jul 11, 1995 Format: MP3 @ 320 Kb/s Time: 66:24 Size: 140 Mb AMG rating: To my friends in JBC! Please enjoy.
During the 1950s and '60s, arranger Sy Oliver's groups reflected their leader's loyalty to the swing era and lack of interest in newer jazz styles. This audiophile CD from Mobile Fidelity reissues two rare Oliver albums that were originally recorded as radio transcriptions. The 24 concise performances range from folk melodies -- such as "Oh, Them Golden Slippers," "l'm a Little Teapot," and "Arkansas Traveler" -- to swing compositions. Trumpeter Charlie Shavers is the star of the earlier set, while the tenor of Budd Johnson takes honors on the second session. Overall the music is a bit lightweight but enjoyable enough. ~ by Scott Yanow, AMG.
2 LPs on 1 CD. OLIVER'S TWIST was originally released in 1960; EASY WALKER was originally released in 1962.
