![1944-1946: Dexter Gordon - Young Dex, Vol. 2 [1944-1946]](http://jazzbluesclub.com/uploads/posts/thumbs/1326986343_cover.jpg) Artist: Dexter Gordon Album: Volume 2: Young Dex 1944-1946 Label: Masters Of Jazz Years: 1944-1946; release: 1998 Quality: FLAC Size: 193,5 Mb; 130 Mb Featuring some of the best bebop on wax, this Dexter Gordon roundup takes in many of the tenor great's key sides from the mid-'40s. The 23-track set includes several of his classic Savoy cuts ("Long Tall Dexter," "Dexter Digs In"), as well as some choice work from dates with Billy Eckstine ("Blowing the Blues Away") and Dizzy Gillespie ("Groovin' High"). Throughout, Gordon shows why he led the charge for bop tenor players with a fine array of substantial yet lithe solos. There are a good number of alternate takes to contend with here, so newcomers beware. ~ Stephen Cook, All Music Guide |

1975: Clark Terry & Ernie Wilkins - Live at Montmarte June 1975 |

Artists: Clark Terry & Ernie Wilkins Album: Live at Montmarte June 1975 Label: Storyville Year: 1975; release: 2003 Format: FLAC Size: 364 mb AMG Rating: Clark Terry is joined by his old Count Basie bandmate Ernie Wilkins for this 1975 concert at the Montmartre in Copenhagen, though it was not released until 2003. The terrific rhythm section consists of expatriate pianist Horace Parlan, bassist Mads Vinding, and drummer Bjarne Rostvold. Terry steals the show in the lengthy workout of "Bye Bye Blackbird" with his trademark solos in which he alternates between flügelhorn and muted trumpet. His fat-toned flügelhorn majestically is the centerpiece of a brief take of "When I Fall in Love." Wilkins gives Terry a run for his money with a burning tenor sax solo in the extended treatment of "Satin Doll." The amusing "Boone's Blues" was improvised on the spot, featuring not only Richard Boone's singing but also vocals by guest Dexter Gordon and Terry's famous "Mumbles" routine. Terry's ballad technique is once again to the forefront in his tantalizing take of "Misty," followed by a brisk dash through "The Theme," the venerable boppish set closer with authorship claimed by many different artists. Originally broadcast by Danish Radio, this excellent live set will be of immense interest to fans of Clark Terry. ~ Ken Dryden, All Music Guide |

Artist: Houston Person Album: The Big Horn Label: Muse Records (Catalog#: MR 5136) Year: 1976 Format, Bitrate: FLAC (LP-Rip) Size: 194,14MB Time: 42:47 AMG rating Reliable soul jazz, nicely played ballads, and good standards are tenor saxophonist Houston Person's forte, and he demonstrates that repeatedly on this '76 quintet set. Pianist Cedar Walton is the type of no-nonsense, consistent player whose skills are often taken for granted, while bassist Buster Williams and drummer Grady Tate are equally unassuming veterans. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide |

Ray Anthony led an extremely popular band just as the big bands were starting to decline. His swing band had millions of fans that attended its performances at the ballrooms and purchased all his Capitol recordings. The tunes appearing in this early 50's compilationare instrumental and introduces all the songs that made up the band's mythical album "Campus Rumpus", plus some other tunes related to the orchestra. This CD also allows us to rediscover Ray's great musical talent from his jazziest times. ~ From liner notes |

1954: Cal Tjader - Tjader Plays Tjazz |

Artist: Cal Tjader Album: Tjader Plays Tjazz Label: Fantasy/OJC Year: 1954; release: 1998 Format: Flac Time: 34:29 Size: 169 mb with covers AMG rating Repost with new link from peer57 In a change of pace, for this recording vibraphonist Cal Tjader recorded cool-toned bop without a Latin rhythm section. Half of the ten songs (mostly jazz standards) feature Tjader switching to drums (his original instrument) in a quartet also including the obscure trombonist Bob Collins, guitarist Eddie Duran and bassist Al McKibbon. Tjader is back on vibes for the quintet selections with tenor saxophonist Brew Moore, pianist Sonny Clark, bassist Eugene Wright and drummer Bobby White. He sounds right at home in both formats and the swinging quintet numbers in particular are a good reason to search for this valuable album. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide |

Artist: Леонид Чижик / Leonid Chizhik Album: Sakura Label: LASER CRAFT Year: 2006; Release: 2011 Format, bitrate: MP3, CBR 320 Time: 59:39 Size: 138 Mb This album is live recording in Munich compositions on world music themes: japanese, russian, turkish and others.
